Valencia booked their place in the next stage of the UEFA Champions League with a battling 2-2 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine.
Roberto Ayala rescued a point for the visitors on 68 minutes, to give Che 10 points from their opening four games in Group D.
Shakhtar captain Jadson and Brazilian Fernandinho had put the home side 2-1 up in an enthralling first half, which saw Fernando Morientes score his fourth goal from four games in the competition.
But Valencia showed their class in the second half, to leave Shakhtar languishing on two points at the bottom of the group with the Uefa Cup looking their best chance to stay in Europe.
Mircea Lucescu's side got off to a dream start when Jadson struck a superb curling free kick from just outside the box past Santiago Canizares to give Shakhtar a shock 1-0 lead on two minutes.
Valencia were reeling and could have been two down when Julius Agahowa broke down the right. His deflected ball eventually fell to Matuzalem, but the unfortunate attacker saw his bouncing volley rebound off the post.
Mariusz Lewandowski then had a golden opportunity to add to Che's woes moments later, when he found himself free in the visitors' box. But with only Canizares to beat the midfielder blazed his header high and wide.
Agahowa was looking dangerous down the right, and when Matuzalem fed him with a delightful ball with the outside of his right foot, following some good work from Brandao, he looked certain to score. But Canizares got down well to save his side's blushes, as they were rail-roaded in the opening exchanges.
Villa was Valencia's only bright spark, looking a class above his leggy looking team-mates, and his dancing feet won Che a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the box on 18 minutes. The Spanish international struck a strong and low shot from the resulting free kick, and, ever the poacher, Morientes stuck a leg out to deflect the ball home for an undeserved equaliser for Flores' team to make it 1-1.
Brandao and Agahowa nearly combined to add a second for Shakhtar, but there was no doubt about Fernandinho's fabulous strike on 28 minutes. The Brazilian picked up the ball near the centre circle and drove powerfully towards Che's goal before unleashing a beautifully struck curling shot from 30 yards, which beat the outstretched fingertips of Canizares to make it 2-1 to the home side.
The Ukrainians were dominant, with Matuzalem and Agahowa showing some fine skills at pace, as the referee blew the whistle to draw a close to a fine first half.
Shakhtar had an altogether more muted opening to the second period, as they looked to close the game out and keep their chances of qualification alive.
Brandao, Tomas Hubschman Villa and Dario Srna all picked up deserved bookings for heavy challenges, but Shakhtar were sitting back and inviting pressure from the visitors.
Disaster struck when a corner from the right was flicked on at the near post and Ayala showed wonderful skill to contort his body and head the ball on the half volley past the helpless Bogdan Shust to make it 2-2 on 68 minutes.
For all their efforts Shakhtar could not reproduce the rhythm of the opening 45 minutes, as Valencia made them pay for missed chances with a clinical and professional result, that leaves Donetsk still with the faintest of hopes of achieving qualification.
