High Street powerhouse game has confirmed it has opened almost 40 new stores in spain this year, and up to 12 stores are targeted for Portugal – with much more to come.
Having firmly established itself as the top dog in the UK, GAME increasingly has its sights on Continental Europe.
“When we look at our Spanish business, we consider it to be a tremendous success,” said group CEO Lisa Morgan. ”It is a great complement to the business, providing a good contribution to the group with excellent future prospects.”
And the Morgan outlined further expansion too – hinting at a swoop for a rival chain.
“When we look at expanding outside of the UK into continental Europe, we look at a number of key ingredients: an established video games market and then a small company with some infrastructure that we can help develop. You need good strong local management and you need a property market which will give you access to fast growth.”
